Reviews
for Killing the Beasts ‘A must read for those who like their crime fiction DI Spicer is ‘a new tec with a refreshingly different personality and approach to the job than the plodders we’re used to.’ 4 out of 5 star rating. ‘Where this book scores is in the characterisation…Benwell is a perfectly realised example of yuppie grace folding under pressure.’ ‘The novel’s high-quality storytelling has an authentic, documentary feel to it.’ 'A crime story with a difference...deeply disturbing, often dark and subtle.' 'Simms keeps you guessing.' A reader’s thoughts If you find the views of ordinary readers just as important as the opinions of professional reviewers, here is an email I received. I swear by my writing hand that it’s genuine. If you have a glowing report too, I give signed hardbacks and £50 compliments slips to any that I print. (That’s a joke.) ‘I stumbled upon your first book in the library and read it in a day and a half! Luckily, Pecking Order was then out and I thoroughly enjoyed that too. I had to wait a while for Killing the Beasts, but it was worth it as this is my favourite to date. Apart from a terrific plot it was a fantastic setting.
